Common questions

Is this church directory free?

Yes. All 46 listings are free to browse and free to add, with no account and no email required.

How were these churches chosen?

Each one was found through its own public description of how it teaches, and every website was checked by hand. This is a short curated list rather than every church there is, so a church missing from it has not been judged, it has just not been added yet.

How do I add or correct my church?

Anyone can add a church, and no verification is needed to be listed. To edit the details you confirm you are from the church using an email address on the same domain as its website, which takes about two minutes.

Why does my church's page say it is not shown in search?

A listing we built from a church's public website has no address or service times, and we do not publish details about a real church that nobody has confirmed. Once someone from the church confirms them, the page is shown in search normally.

Read it in context

Read the Bible with every name, place and word explained on the verse.

Tap any name, place, or word you do not recognize and the background opens on the verse you are reading. No second tab, no search, no losing your place.

The Protos reader open on Genesis 1 with the How to Read Genesis background sheet raised over it
"People don't give up on the Bible for lack of discipline. They give up because they don't understand what they read. So they skim past it and jump straight to what it means for them, before they have listened to what God is saying through the words, the story, and the voice of the writer. It happens so often that theology has a name for it: eisegesis."

Protos is the answer to that. Every explanation you read was written by a scholar and published in a reference work, credited right on the page.

The streak feature actually got people in my congregation excited to read, especially the youth. We've started comparing notes after service.
