What does the Bible say about doubt and assurance?
Scripture distinguishes honest doubt from settled refusal to trust. Thomas is answered, the father in Mark 9 brings belief and unbelief to Jesus together, and the Psalms repeatedly question God from within covenant faith. Assurance rests finally in Christ's promise and work, not in maintaining an uninterrupted feeling of certainty.

What Christians broadly share
Christians can ask hard questions without pretending, and churches should respond with patience, Scripture, prayer, and companionship. Assurance normally grows through the gospel, the Spirit's witness, the fruit of faith, and life within the church.
Where careful distinctions matter
Traditions differ over perseverance and the possibility of apostasy. Warnings should not be softened into irrelevance, but tender consciences should not be driven to inspect themselves endlessly instead of looking to Christ.
